At Aalberts advanced mechatronics, we are evolving by reorganizing ourselves around value streams rather than functions. In this organizational model, cross-functional teams work together from the moment a customer requests a product until the moment they receive it. This approach is helping us improve coordination between departments, keep up with growth in our industry, and better serve our customers.

We will  explain you a bit about what each value stream is all about and how our employees are experiencing this innovative new way of working. Here we speak with Andre Eckendonk value stream manager at ISEL, about working within the value stream Industry.

What does the Industry value stream do?

We develop, manufacture, sell, and service CNC machines, as well as mechanical parts and linear axes used in applications such as semiconductor production.

What makes the value stream special?

Our slogan at ISEL is “Engineering to the point.” Our years of experience and technical knowledge make it possible for us to build custom machines based on customer specifications. Our linear axes are also developed and built in-house, which gives ISEL an advantage over the competition.

What are recent challenges within the value stream?

The industrial market has declined significantly so that our recent challenge is to align products to the changed market conditions and optimize processes.

Can you share a success story where this value stream has made a difference for a customer?

A few years ago, we sold a complete line of CNC machines to a specific customer. In 2024, we managed to sell a second line of machines to the same customer, in close collaboration with our sales and engineering teams. The new focus on the product, resulting from the value stream organization, as well as the quality of our production and service, convinced the customer and strengthened his trust in us.

What are the upcoming plans for the value stream?

We plan to improve our strategy and focus on sales. In terms of manufacturing, we will focus on further automating our processes, constructing machines using building blocks (like Lego), and increasing our productivity.
