In this organizational model, cross-functional teams work together from the moment a customer requests a product until the moment they receive it. This approach is helping us improve coordination between departments, keep up with growth in our industry, and better serve our customers.

We will you explain you a bit about what each value stream is all about and how our employees are experiencing this innovative new way of working. We speak with Martijn van der Heiden, value stream director at Mogema, about working within the value stream Defense.

What does the Defense value stream do? 

The Defense value stream makes modules for the defense industry, something that Mogema has been doing for a long time.

What makes the value stream special? 

Due to the current geopolitical situation, the demand for defense equipment has risen sharply, including demand for products we make. We basically have to grow from a startup into a mature business in a fraction of the time an organization would normally have to do this.

What are recent challenges within the value stream? 

One major challenge we are facing is continuing to satisfy the customer's needs despite the strong increase in demand. Delivering a new project is also a huge learning curve for the whole team. A final challenge is forming a team that is new and yet has sufficient knowledge of the defense business.

Can you share a success story where this value stream has made a difference for a customer? 

During visits from our customers, we always get positive feedback about our location in Harderwijk, where we have set up a production area for each customer in a very professional way.

What are the upcoming plans for the value stream?

In the coming years, the value stream will grow quickly and we will try to expand our product offering.
