At Aalberts advanced mechatronics, we are evolving by reorganizing ourselves around value streams rather than functions. In this organizational model, cross-functional teams work together from the moment a customer requests a product until the moment they receive it. This approach is helping us improve coordination between departments, keep up with growth in our industry, and better serve our customers.
We will explain you a bit about what each value stream is all about and how our employees are experiencing this innovative new way of working. Here we speak Rene Gidding, technical manager operations, about working within the value stream Installations.
What is your role/function within the value stream and what are your responsibilities?
I currently fill the role of Technical Manager. My responsibilities include:
- Providing technical advice to customers and internally regarding offers we make
- Following technological developments within the market
- Participating in the transfer from calculation/sales to implementation
What makes working within your value stream so enjoyable?
The diversity within my work responsibilities, the variation within each day, and helping others make progress within projects.
What is your biggest challenge currently?
Imparting knowledge to others and making sure that together we can achieve “first time right.
What does working at Lamers mean to you?
At the moment I have been working at Lamers for 30 years in various roles and that already says a lot. In that sense, Lamers is in my blood, and this is apparent even when I am at home.
What would you say to someone interested in working within this value stream?
Anyone who joins Installations will find it quite difficult at first to understand this technology and market. But the longer you are on board and the more knowledge you get about the technology, the more fun you are going to have. In addition, there is a relaxed atmosphere within the value stream and plenty of humor, and that keeps the work and the work day fun.
