At Aalberts advanced mechatronics, we are evolving by reorganizing ourselves around value streams rather than functions. In this organizational model, cross-functional teams work together from the moment a customer requests a product until the moment they receive it. This approach is helping us improve coordination between departments, keep up with growth in our industry, and better serve our customers.

We will explain you a bit about what each value stream is all about and how our employees are experiencing this innovative new way of working.  Here we speak with Tom Bolderman, Process Engineer Production at Lamers, about working within the value stream Lay-out & Parts.

What is your role/function within the value stream and what are your responsibilities?

My role is Team Lead Engineering, and my responsibilities involve all technical matters surrounding our products and processes.

What makes working within the value stream so enjoyable?

Our value stream is a relatively small team, which makes it possible to have a good connection with everyone in the value stream. It makes you feel like you are working in a small family business.

What is currently your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge at the moment is to keep a good connection with the other value streams and supporting departments. Across the value streams there are many processes that correspond to each other, and the standard needs to be the same across the value streams and support departments.

What does working at Lamers mean to you?

Engagement, the freedom to take ownership, feeling comfortable and “in your element”, and having a good work-life balance.

What would you say to someone interested in working within this value stream?

You are welcome to join an interesting and challenging value stream within a fun team.
