At Aalberts advanced mechatronics, we are evolving by reorganizing ourselves around value streams rather than functions. In this organizational model, cross-functional teams work together from the moment a customer requests a product until the moment they receive it. This approach is helping us improve coordination between departments, keep up with growth in our industry, and better serve our customers.
We will explain you a bit about what each value stream is all about and how our employees are experiencing this innovative new way of working. We speak with Steve Prins, production planner at Mogema, about working within the value stream Large Frame Aluminum (LFA).

What is your role within the value stream and what are your responsibilities?

My role within the value stream is production planner.  I am responsible for short-term planning for machines in my assigned departments. In addition, I also monitor long-term planning by ensuring that production orders remain up-to-date within our systems and always correspond with the planned deliveries to our customers.

What makes working within your value stream so enjoyable?

Working in our value stream is highly varied and we have a very close and cozy team. Because of this, we get to know what is going on with the other colleagues and we help each other where necessary. I am therefore not only busy with production planning-related issues, but am also sometimes asked to help out with other problems within the value stream.

What is currently your biggest challenge?

A major challenge in working as a production planner is that I have to keep the bigger picture in mind at all times. I have to consider not only the interests from my own value stream, but also those of other value streams, since the production departments for which I am responsible also handle products from other value streams. I therefore always have to ensure that my planning meets the wishes of all parties as closely as possible. I am a real “spider in the web” within our production!

What does working at Mogema mean to you?

If I had to sum up working at Mogema in a few words, I would say “collegiality” and “job satisfaction.” Our colleagues are always open to share their knowledge, not only when you ask for it, but also out of enthusiasm for their profession. I sometimes find myself talking to machine operators who make me really excited about what they do! I also learn an enormous amount and enjoy seeing how many professionals work here and how much we need them to deliver such technically perfect products to our customers.

What would you say to someone interested in working within this value stream?

I would recommend working with us in the value stream to everyone! We are true professionals who also make a good team. There is always something going on and the work does not get boring quickly.
