At Aalberts advanced mechatronics, we are evolving by reorganizing ourselves around value streams rather than functions. In this organizational model, cross-functional teams work together from the moment a customer requests a product until the moment they receive it. This approach is helping us improve coordination between departments, keep up with growth in our industry, and better serve our customers.

We will explain you a bit about what each value stream is all about and how our employees are experiencing this innovative new way of working. Here we speak with Adlay Plaate, Marketer at Pneutec, about working within the value stream Material Handling. 

What is your role/function within the value stream and what are your responsibilities? 

I am the marketing executive at Pneutec in the value stream Material Handling. During my internship, I contributed to building our new website. Right now, I’m responsible for optimizing the website in terms of design, performance, online visibility, CRO, and more.     

Together with Niels Davids, I create content for our LinkedIn account. I also make sure our online visibility increases through Google Ads campaigns and SEO (search engine optimization). This means getting a good position in the Google ranking for search terms used by our target audience.  

Finally, I am responsible for organizing our corporate exhibitions. Of course, we do this together with the team, but I am the one who monitors all actions and ultimately ensures their successful implementation.  

What makes working within the value stream so enjoyable?  

Every day I get to work on something different. I learn a lot from my colleagues from application specialists, vacuum technology, pneumatics, and fluid control. I also learn from the business developers about how things work in sales and how we add value for our customers. I really enjoy this and find it very insightful. 

What is currently your biggest challenge?  

Increasing our website traffic and improving our conversion rate: We operate in a very competitive market, which means that we need to keep improving, since attracting new visitors opens doors to new opportunities.  

Another challenge is positioning ourselves as experts in material handling with vacuum and pneumatic technology. We differentiate ourselves from the competition by providing expert solutions and not just products. This is also how we want our customers to think about us.  

What does working at Pneutec mean to you?  

It’s an opportunity to help the Dutch OEM markets with our smart solutions. When our clients need trusted expertise and high-quality products and service, we are able to provide that and more. To me it’s also a chance to grow in a small team that makes a big impact. Furthermore, I have learned a lot of marketing strategies and tactics, but also about the technologies that we use and the markets we operate in.
