At Aalberts advanced mechatronics, we are evolving by reorganizing ourselves around value streams rather than functions. In this organizational model, cross-functional teams work together from the moment a customer requests a product until the moment they receive it. This approach is helping us improve coordination between departments, keep up with growth in our industry, and better serve our customers.

We will explain you a bit what each value stream is all about and how our employees are experiencing this innovative new way of working. Here we speak with Ruud Beekman, value stream manager at Lamers, about working within the value stream Modules & Cabinets.

What does the Modules & Cabinets value stream do?

Everything we do at Lamers comes together in Modules & Cabinets. This is where we make complete systems.

What makes the value stream Modules & Cabinets special?

Everything comes together here. We assemble the product using purchased components to create the whole. We manufacture, validate, and then ship the product to our customer.

What are recent challenges within the value stream?

The change from a function-based organization to the value stream organization and making sure that the team functions well together.

Can you share a success story where this value stream has made a difference for a customer?

Now that we are working together cross functionally and with a focus on quality, we are able to significantly reduce the number of outstanding issues for our customer.

What are the upcoming plans for this value stream?

To further streamline our processes and make them more efficient.
